KESTREL NESTLING BANDED !!

Hi All,

On June 11/2023 our 5 Kestrel nestlings were banded, 3 females and 2 males.

We would like to thank Dr. James Duncan and Meredith Stoesz under the Discover Owls permits for bandind our 5 nestlings.

Here are a few photo from the banding and 2 are of the Kestrel Banding Box 6000 which keeps them seperated and calm.

Thanks, and all have a great day,

OMG, what fantastic photos!  How old are the nestlings at this point?

Hi Mary-Sue_Frank,

Our recomened age to band the Kestrels is between 15 to 20 days old. (some may say different)

This prevents a premature fledge. Our nestling are (3) 18 days (1) 17 days (1) 16days.

Hope you enjoyed the photos.

Awesome job! Love the "Kestrel Banding Box 6000". Might have to make something similar for our nestlings :)

Hi John.W. Taylor,

Glad you like the banding box. This box has definatly kept the nestlings calm during the banding process.

It was noted in our 14 years of reserach that all the nestlings in one box out of their enviroment (nest box) defiantly causes some issues, aggression to each other !

Don't know if you have been on our KESTREL KORNER ?
