the Ion Air Pro video camera fits easily into the kestrel box cavity and does a nice job of taking a video of the contents of the box. I use duct tape on the end of an extensible pole to connect the camera to pole. The camera must be vertical when recording the box contents but the tape makes a flexible hinge so this set up works nicely. You can check a box in 30 seconds without climbing any ladders and I have checked while the female was incubating (didn't know she was in there) and in two cases, the female simply remained on the eggs. Camera around $200. Pole from $45-85.
I highly recommend this for monitoring.

This sounds great. Can you
This sounds great. Can you post a photo of how the camera looks when attached to the pole? Also, I found this in an online review of the iOn Air Pro 3: "The fixed-focus lens is good from 3.3 feet to infinity, so you'll definitely need some space between the camera and subject...." Has this not been a problem for you?

I found that the camera
I found that the camera focuses fine on the nest from the box hole --which is only a matter of 8" or so.
