I have a question about the possibility of American Kestrels marking their chosen nest boxes with white wash to claim possession. In our first nesting season we only had heavy white wash on boxes used for nesting by kestrels so I'm wondering if the marking is intentional or simple bodily functions.. Does anyone have an opinion on this.
