Licensed bird bander Ed Pike banded these 5 chicks recently at a Nature Preserve in Harbor Springs monitored by a volunteer. 3 females and 2 males. Ed took less than 5 minutes to carefully add the band and mark the id number. My 6 year old twins got to join the volunteers and Ed to watch for the first time ever. Thank you to this program for helping to grow an appreciation for these birds at a young age.
