General Discussion : Migration Season is underway!

American Kestrels in the Northern Hemisphere migrate to the tropics or subtropics.  However, we do not know much about the life of a kestrel on their wintering grounds!  One of the many possible hypothesis for the kestrel's decline is that something is happening to them after they migrate South for the winter.  This is one of the hypothesis we hope to put to the test at some point in the AKP!

September is peak migration season for much of the Northern Hemisphere, and catching migrating raptors on the move can be quite a show!  Interested in finding a HawkWatch near you?  Check out this site to get started: http://hawkcount.org/

Some Hawk Watches can see hundreds or even thousands of migrating raptors overheard in one day!
